GOAL™ Catalyst Series - Technology Summary

The GOAL series of catalysts addresses the need to reduce olefins in FCC gasoline. GOAL catalysts combine the unique CSX zeolite with Grace Davison's proprietary SAM-700 (Selective Active Matrix) technology.

CSX zeolite has higher activity retention compared with REUSY and CSSN zeolites, especially at very high vanadium levels (V>5000ppm). Vanadium tolerance is important to minimise gasoline olefins since deactivation of the zeolite by vanadium leads to a decrease in acid site density and activity. This leads to an increase in selectivity to olefins.

A key feature that differentiates this new zeolite from any other is the ability to substantially extend its hydrogen transfer activity with no loss in stability (activity retention) or increase in coke selectivity.

The new SAM-700 matrix combines moderate matrix activity with excellent metals tolerance to provide good coke-selective bottoms upgrading while minimising the amount of olefins generated through excessive matrix cracking and dehydrogenation reactions by contaminant metals.

GOAL catalyst technology is being used successfully to reduce olefins in FCC gasoline by more than 20% versus REUSY based catalysts.
