The FCC CATALYST PORTFOLIO
Grace Davison has made many important contributions
to fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) since we manufactured the world's first
synthetic FCC catalyst in 1942. These include the introduction of the first
spray dried, microspheroidal catalyst in 1948, the pioneering of the first
commercial zeolite-based FCC catalyst in 1964, and the introduction of ZSM-5
based additives in 1986.
Since the first zeolite-based FCC catalysts were introduced in the early 1960's,
FCC zeolite technology has continually evolved to meet the demands of refiners.
Grace Davison currently manufactures a range of modified faujasite zeolites,
including rare earth exchanged ultrastable Y (REUSY), rare earth free Z-21 and
the high activity CSSN and CSX versions.
Grace Davison was the first catalyst manufacturer to introduce Selective Active
Matrix (SAM) and Tuneable Matrix Alumina (TMA) systems. Through proprietary
processing, GRACE Davison is able to control alumina morphology, acidity and
surface chemistry. These matrix technologies provide functionalities to
pre-crack the heaviest portion of the feedstock, maximise molecular diffusion
to and from the zeolite acid sites and passivate contaminant metals such as
vanadium, nickel, iron and sodium.
The EnhanceR Technology Platform is the latest step-out FCC catalyst development
from GRACE Davison Europe. This Platform comprises a set of mutually compatible
chemical agent treatments and proprietary processing operations, generating the
four functionalities:
-
EPR EnhanceR Pore Restructuring
-
EMR EnhanceR Metals Resistance
-
EAM EnhanceR Acidity Modification
-
ESS EnhanceR Structure Stabilisation
The EnhanceR Platform Technologies are fully compatible with proprietary GRACE
Davison zeolite types and matrix systems.
All GRACE Davison Europe catalyst families are manufactured with the
proprietary GRACE Davison alumina-sol binder system which ensures low
particulate emissions due to its excellent attrition resistance.
