| Reactive alumina has long been recognized as having properties that contribute to the bottoms cracking performance of FCC catalysts. Grace Davison has developed a proprietary reactive alumina that provides improved coke selectivity with bottoms cracking (coke/bottoms) in FCC applications. | ||||||||||||||||
| Sabre (Selective Additive for Bottoms Reduction) was developed to supplement Grace Davison catalyst technology. As an additive, Sabre offers refiners the opportunity to rapidly adjust FCC yields for bottoms upgrading. Sabre allows the refiner the flexibility to respond to changing FCC feedstocks independent of the properties of the base catalyst. Further, use of Sabre allows rapid catalytic shifts to upgrade bottoms through baseloading, whereas catalyst change might take weeks or months to materially impact yields. | ||||||||||||||||
| Sabre also offers a dual functionality as a vanadium trap. In metals-impregnated DCR catalyst testing, Sabre removed nearly 50% of vanadium in the circulating inventory. By capturing and immobilizing the vanadium, the selective activity of the zeolite in the base catalyst is preserved and results in reduced coke yield and improved liquid product selectivity. | ||||||||||||||||

| The alumina content of Sabre is significantly higher than other additives and reflects the high concentration of reactive alumina. The physical properties are typical of what the industry has come to expect from Grace Davison products, high apparent bulk density and a very low Davison Index. The total surface area of Sabre is nearly 50% higher than any other bottoms additive. | ||||||||||||||||
